Callie Exas

Tell us about you! We want to hear about you as a person.

Feminist, pizza enthusiast, and mom of two monsters in my No Effs 40's era.

I don't care about your diet, I care about if your diet give you the energy, stamina and resilience to burn down the patriarchy.

Tell us about your business.

Callie Exas Nutrition & Wellness is a virtual, holistic health practice that serves women, particularly high-achievers and mothers navigating the "hormonal mayhem" of burnout, perimenopause, and fertility. Headquartered virtually with roots in New Jersey and Brooklyn, my practice focuses on the "science of self-care" by ditching restrictive diet culture in favor of evidence-based strategies that address the biological, physiological, and psychological components of health and wellbeing. Through 1:1 counseling, hormone testing (like the DUTCH test), and exercise programming, I support my clients rebuilding their relationship with food and movement to reclaim their energy and body autonomy. It is an ideal space for those who want a "no-BS," empathetic partner to help them manage stress and metabolic health without the pressure of a one-size-fits-all plan.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I took the scenic route. After working for 5 years in advertising, I went back to school for 2 masters degrees. During that time I worked as a trainer and for the NYCDOH teaching nutrition policy and nutrition classes, and then I interned at hospital which left me completely burnt out. I knew I couldn't go back to corporate/bureaucratic life so, I did something even more insane and started my own practice specialized in women's health.

How did you find yourself doing this work?

During my internship, I worked under a dietitian specialized in PCOS - Martha McKittrick. I did so much learning about running a practice + women's health. It's complicated and layered and fascinating. She's the person that inspired me to take the leap on my own.

What's a proud moment in your business journey?

I find my job so rewarding. Proudest moments include helping fertility clients get pregnant, supporting clients as they totally change their relationship with their body and their food. Helping them take back their body autonomy after years of stressing about food.
